Brighton dream pop band HANYA have a new song, 'Dream Wife', out now. Naturally, we decided to ask them a few questions:

Who are your main influences?
"Grace Slick of Jefferson Airplane is a huge influence, as are 90s groups such as Cocteau Twins, My Bloody Valentine, and Stereolab. Artists like Angel Olsen, Sharon Van Etten, PJ Harvey and Patti Smith are close to our hearts."
What made you decide to form HANYA after Post-Heather?
"Post-Heather was created back when all I had was an acoustic guitar and a dictaphone. As a two-piece, Jack and I felt restricted with our songwriting, and our live sets, so forming HANYA was a natural progression to give our songs what we thought they deserved. HANYA is a much more collaborative effort, we're more free, more fun and livelier!"
How has 'Dream Wife' been received so far?

"We couldn't be happier with the support we've received so far. Clash, Gigwise and Hidden herd have written some really complimentary features on the single. With 'Dream Wife' people are listening to the track and feeling a connection - which is exactly what we
wanted!"
What can we expect from the rest of the EP?
"The rest of the EP displays a spectrum of what we can do as a group. The instrumentation has evolved and allowed us to take the songs to some darker territories, as well as exploring our jangly shoegaze/dream-pop fantasy."
Are you looking forward to New York in March?
"We can't wait to get across the pond! We love what New Colossus is doing for new acts, and it's a real privilege to be on the festivals line-up next year."
Will we get to see an album on the horizon?
"Never say never..."
