TRACK REVIEW: BIIG PIIG - SWITCH

Writer: Chloe GormanChloe Gorman

Biig Piig, real name Jess Smyth, is known for her hazy, mellow lo-fi vibe using playfully simplistic beats but new single ‘Switch’ could not be more apt. A song about the tension, helplessness and pressure that the world is under right now. The beat and lyrics to me represents the fast pace of how the world is falling apart and the anxious undertone of it all.”

It starts off as indie-pop rock with a repetitive bassline, Smyth’s cloudy vocals layered on top. The ‘switch’ is when the beat kicks in and it becomes punk-infused liquid drum and bass. All good things come in small packages and at just over two minutes, this song certainly delivers.
