This week we’re taking a trip down memory lane to remember the chick flick that defined the nineties. Directed by Amy Heckerling, this delightfully glamorous teen film didn’t just make a fun and entertaining film, but a nostalgic daydream that mixed iconic fashion and memorable one-liners with romance and girl power.
The plot focuses around Cher (Alicia Silverstone), a popular, shopping-obsessed high-schooler who always strives to go the extra mile for people with her best friend, the loyal fiery Dionne (Stacey Dash). One such person includes Tai (Brittany Murphy), a new girl and immediate outcast who Cher quickly makes her next mission. When her ex-stepbrother (it’s complicated) Josh (Paul Rudd) moves in and also takes a liking to the quirky Tai, Cher’s loyalties are tested. While it might have had such a big impact decades ago, the message can never grow old. Be more Cher and treat people with kindness.
